we had a miracle here today.cate has been very difficult to deal with lately. very much in the climax of the terrible twos. the last two days, however, were more than difficult. she was like a possessed person. refusing to sleep, being totally cranky. making me follow her everywhere or throwing a tantrum, and at the worst of it, she slapped my face! i had a total breakdown because she has to be acting this way because of me, and the way I act...but we put her down super early last night, hoping that a good night sleep would cure her. she slept for 14 hours, and woke up in a crankier mood than before. sobbing, wouldn't let us touch her. finally she said, "i just sickie! my tummy hurts!". poor thing. she sat on the couch still for a second so grant decided to give her a blessing. it was short- affirmed she was sick and said she needed rest today and blessed her that she could get it. by the time the blessing was over she was SOUND ASLEEP. this is right after waking up and throwing a tantrum. trust me, this is a miracle on par with like, water to wine or something. she slept for sooo long. woke up, had lunch and asked when daddy would be home because she needed to say sorry! she said to me "mommy i all better, i not mean anymore!". and then she went with me to wal-mart as well behaved as i have ever seen her, then fell asleep again on the way home and has been asleep for the last two hours...strange things are afoot at pilgrim's anding. i am so grateful for the power of the priesthood.

just read this by c.s. lewis and it really changed the way i have viewed so many "trials" in my life:
"little people like you and me, if our prayers are sometimes granted, beyond all hope and probability, had better not draw hasty conclusions to our own advantage. if we were stronger, we might be less tenderly treated. if we were braver, we might be sent, with far less help, to defend far more desperate posts in the great battle."
wow. i love that. i am grateful for the tenderness of the lord that keeps me from a post i would fail at, and for the trust to be brave in some difficult assignments i have been given.
