so in Germany they sell bikes for kids from the time they are TINY that look just like a regular bike...only with no pedals. Same idea, help them learn to balance early on. Kids here learn to ride their bikes SUPER early. GO KATE!

that is a GREAT tip! i can't wait to try it!!

I'm trying that on my timid 6 1/2 year old. I know she can do it, but she doesn't believe me.

great idea + great pictures, too!

How did you think of that? That is awesome. She is so beautiful!

that top photo should be on a magazine cover!

what a great tip! going to try this with my 6 1/2 year old.

oh man! my ava is turning 8 next month and still won't try it! I may have to do this with her!!! thanks!!!!!

We have a bike with no pedals and it's my kids favorite--they both learned to ride without training wheels on it. Kate looks adorable--I love her jeans.

that is a great idea . . .

we bent our 5 yr olds training wheels up really far . . . so it was either ride really crooked or figure out how to balance. it worked great too . . . and we didn't have to run behind her 1 time when we took the wheels off either!

i'll keep that in mind when we take off dottie's training wheels

i agree that´s the way it should be done! we had a bike with no pedals att all. a runnigbike. julius learned to bike before he turned 4. sweish kids are generally early with their biking but people stopped their cars to look at my little one managing the bike perfectly.

Wish my parents would have had this tip about 25 years ago! But, then...I wouldn't have my knee scars, all these years, to remind me of all childhood bike rides! ; )

brilliance!!!

nice tip - i think we are gonna apply that with my daughter. thanks!

yaaayyy go cate!!!!

mama, that is one sweet chickie you've got there :)
