i don't make it a lot because of the high sugar content but sometimes i just have to have it. it is so delicious over a bed of baby spinach, mushrooms, and crumbled bacon. and, of course, some strong italian cheeses. enjoy!
red onion and poppy seed dressing
slice a medium red onion and put in a jar.
mix 1 c. sugar, 1/4 c. white vinegar, 1/2 c. canola oil, 1 1/2 tbsp. poppy seeds, 1/2 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. dry mustard. pour over onion and close lid. (it will be very thick and may take some prodding).
refrigerate overnight. shake the jar to mix completely and toss with salad just before serving.

What a great recipe. I can't wait to try it. I love bacon, the crispier the better.

This looks amazing, thanks so much for the recipe...I'm always on the lookout for new dressings :) I was wondering how long it lasts in the fridge?

i think awhile...but you won't be able to let it sit long enough to find out!

This looks awesomely delicious, and I am actually a little irritated at you. Tempting me this way, when I am stuck in bed and can't get up and cook ;-D I will bookmark and try this later on, for sure! Have a great day!

This is the BEST dressing. The first time I had this salad I literally had to stop at the store after the party to get the ingredients and made it the same night..I've since lost the recipe so thanks for sharing.
