spring quilt coming along

remember these images that inspired me a few weeks ago? the top is just about complete and ready to be sandwiched and quilted. i hate showing quilts before they are all the way done because it just doesn't do them justice. but let me tell you- i LOVE this quilt in real life. can't wait to get it ironed, quilted and bound. i thinking a dark cream thread in figure 8s and then bind it in bright yellow or the dark green? the back is half white and half blue floral. it's a queen size. i was planning to sell it, but i'm getting pretty attached to the thought of picnicking on it meself. yum. and speaking of quilts, because of some email requests after seeing cate's quilt in the previous post, i will be making more wallpaper quilt kits available on monday of next week in the shop, so yay.

we've been renting grant's sister's beautiful basement apt. for like, almost a year. and i felt totally settled about a week ago. just in time to start looking for where we'd like to own (?) a home and start packing up again. i am so slow. at everything. like right now it's almost time to get cate from school and i'm still in my bathrobe from my morning shower. ah well. my bed is always made, do i get points for that?

my stomach hurts

it is raining and so crazy windy here right now. it is keeping my mind fixated on the images of the missouri tornado wreckage. oh my gosh that upset me so much this morning, i really honestly wish i was there right now helping. i'm pretty much useless here, anyway.

i'm having one of those days where it is 11:30 and i am still in pajamas with mascara smudged all around my eyes and i haven't had breakfast yet because i'm too tired and nothing sounds good. the gym didn't happen because i don't know why. how do you snap out of that? i hate it. it makes me reach for caffeine and start a pattern of bad food choices for the rest of the day.

good music usually helps. remember this song? it was a favorite and played endlessly when i was, oh, 14. seems like a good one to get cleaning and folding to today:

i am so totally a child of 90s hippie grunge. the day is looking up already. seriously, blast this with me.

one year ago today

i was looking at pictures from this time last year and i almost cried at how much older cate looks now. her teeth and hair look totally different, and she's lost a lot of that baby-faceness. but then i started laughing because she just left for school wearing that same sweatshirt (i told you, she wears the same thing everyday). it reminded me of my dad- he renewed his license ten years apart and was wearing the same outfit in both pictures. ha! cate takes after him in the love of puns and riddles, being right, best friends that are dogs, and only needing one change of clothes.

other things on my mind today: painting baseboards, the end of soccer and dance, needing sunshine, progesterone cream: do or don't, visiting my grandma, how to stop my bad dreams, getting cate some summer clothes + maybe a new sweatshirt, and a high anticipation for school to get out and give me my girl back. have a good weekend!

cate's closet sale::bid for the lot

cate wears the same tshirt and pair of jeans everyday. it makes me crazy and we get in arguments about the piles of cute clothes she has that go unworn. she said: "sell them!" most of the pictured items have been worn once or twice and some literally never. gap, old navy, forever 21 kids, target, naartjie. all about size 8. lots of summer into fall clothes, 2 pairs of shoes. well over $300 worth of stuff.
