there is almost nothing i like better than spending a long summer day at the good old community pool. it makes me feel like such a mom. i read a magazine, have a beverage, swim in two feet of pee warmed water with my mermaid daughter now called emily, stand shivering on the terrifying stairs in the waterslide line with (back to being called) cate, and get some color on my skin. head home for a shower, aloe vera gel, and a dinner of cold cereal to complete a perfect day. repeat! repeat!

i just wanted to share a few pages from a little book i made for cate when she was three. it's some personal notes and feelings written down to keep, you know, just "in case". i used old cereal boxes cut to size, painted them, and then i just started writing whatever was in my heart. things like: how to pick someone to marry, my testimony of jesus christ and how to find peace during trial, how important it is to love who you are and not care about the world's definition of beauty, and how much i love her. i found it today and was so glad i made it. i really want to start scrapbooking again. i used to really love it...
ps- my mixed feelings about scrapbooking here. one of my favorite pages ever here.

after church and a delicious lunch, grant challenged cate to a game of checkers. a re-match because she beat him last night. cate, i am not sure if you are old enough to appreciate how much you hit the jackpot in the ol' dad department. but trust me kid, you lucked out.
like, best dad in the world kind of lucked out.

cate took a nap yesterday. it was ah-mazing. i got out of the shower and she had fallen asleep on her bed. she looked like she was two again and i felt like i had a little tiny girl again. well, except for the fact that her baby quilt i used to swaddle her in hardly covers her bum.
