nicole came along with dottie the dog. grant (clark griswald) dreamed about owning a tree farm. we picked a sparce blue spruce. a different look for us, to highlight my ornaments. christmas is in full swing around here.
guess what i'm doing today? taking some pics to update the etsy shop. do you believe it? quilts and vintage stuff. should be done by tomorrow (hope).
it was time for another reno trip to get my hair done at coco's salon. i love my sister. the gas it takes to get there and back is how much i would pay for hair to get done here. so our deal is: i do two eight hour drives in a matter of 72 hours and she does my hair gratis, just so we can spend time together.
we eat and thrift and eat and thrift and talk and play music. that's about it.
oh, wait, we also lay in bed, watch movies, take naps, and snap ugly faced pictures.
and, as it turns out, sephora will still take your money if you come in when you only left the house intending to get a donut and therefore have on no make-up, bra, or real pants for that matter. no pride, woot!

2. grant took better care of cate than i do. he set up a movie outside friday night- hocus pocus of course, had dates with her, and even trimmed her hair. love that guy.

my cute nephew is far from his family in illinois attending his first year at byu. we decided to do a photo shoot for his mom's birthday because she misses him so much. it was a real sacrifice for me, as being on that campus gives me instant anxiety attacks and flashbacks that i have tests and papers due but i unwisely (wisely?) chose to go snowboarding all week and now i have to pump out work and speed read. anyway, she is going to be missing him for a lot longer now, since he was just called to serve in the japan sapporo mission! he lived with his family for five years in tokyo, so the language will come quick to him. and his dad served there too- remember that talk in conference about the father and son that served in japan? so perfect. so proud of you brades! and i'm glad you're so much more disciplined as a student than i was...he's rocking it and so cute.
included: besties and fam, delish hot dogs, apple cider for a nice change, me begging grant to make the fire bigger and bigger because i was freezing, getting cozy in a grandma mccaleb hand crocheted blanket, cate loving the fire as usual, and singing church songs in the dark night. all in all a cozy evening.
wakeboarding is one of my favorite things to do in the world. unfortunately, since it's been so long since i last went- i would have to drop the rope after what seemed like only a few minutes because of fatigue. lame and frustrating. i think i could've lasted a lot longer, but the water was what you call total crap conditions so you had to really dig in. i was sore for days.

my oldest brother. this man has more outdoor hobbies than any person i've ever met, and the toys to go with it. he loves the mountains and off roading in all it's varieties, powell, four wheeling in moab, and can't go too long without a trip home to southern cal to surf.
it's really hard to grow up in lake tahoe, one of the cleanest, clearest lakes in the world and then have to go to utah lake. utah lake stinks (literal smelly stink) and can only be described as murky disgusting dead fish gross. which is why i don't go out much on the bro's boat. princess problem? yes. i need to get over it because it was really fun, once you got used to the smell.

and the miss cate. this was the girl ride. we had just exchanged spots with all the nephews who are hardcore and wouldn't have the patience to wait for little girls to go tubing while they're dying to board. she had a blast.
i have so many more summer memories to record before fall hits. this week is catch-up time.
